Catherine Fitzgerald, ONZM, founded Blueskin Films in 2002.

She has produced an extensive international award-winning slate of features, shorts and documentaries which have featured worldwide, including at the Berlinale, Venice, Cannes, Sundance, Toronto Film Festivals and the Academy Awards.

Her latest work, PUNCH (dir Welby Ings) just launched to enthusiastic audiences at the NZIFF. Thriller, COMING HOME IN THE DARK (dir James Ashcroft) premièred in the Midnight Section, Sundance 2021 and released August 2021 around the world, before being sold to Netflix.

Other noted works include the acclaimed ONE THOUSAND ROPES, THE ORATOR (both NZ’s nominees for Best Foreign Film at the Academy Awards) and BELLBIRD, amongst many others.

Catherine has a record of making films by women, Māori and Polynesian and other underrepresented voices and has worked extensively as a developer for stage and screen.

She also Chairs the NZ Film Festival Trust and Playmarket, is a founding Trust member of the Screen Women’s Action Group, and has consulted for the Berlinale for the NATIVe strand, served on Generation, NETPAC, Asia Pacific Screen Academy Development Fund, and Adelaide Festival juries. Her other governance roles include NZ Film Commission Board, the Dunedin College of Education Board, the founding Chair of WIFT NZ, and Screen Producers Association, among others.
